Please drive safe
Last night around 11 pm I was on my home from the radio station where I work and I had to pass through a heavy construction zone on I-95 North. As I was driving I started to realize that the right lane is slowly disappearing and that I need to merge. As I look to my left, the semi that was behind me had changed lanes to the left and sped up. I was pinned between him and the on coming construction barrels. As I clipped the first one, then a second I saw my right mirror shatter and in a split second had to decide what to do. In that fraction of time I saw a giant tire filling my left window and braced for an impact with the construction barricades. I clobbered 2 or 3 more of the barriers, fish tailed a bit as I hit the brakes and somehow managed to get into the left lane without hitting anyone! I pulled off the road, surveyed the damage and called the Florida Highway Patrol. It wasn't until I was home that I realized the severity of how close I had just come to being another statistic on the roadway. One bad choice to avoid the construction barrier could have thrown me under the semi.
So as your making your way to friends, relatives or where ever you may be headed this holiday, please drive safe and watch out for others around you.
